For someone with crippling insecurity issues and life-long, low self-esteem, I’ve never gotten along with other girls all that much. I got bullied by them as a kid so I don’t have a lot of faith in my ability to maintain friendships. I’m constantly afraid of the men in my life leaving me for beautiful, confident, interesting, stable women. Many times they have done this.
I think riotgrrrl movements are the most encouraging and positive approach for me because they focus on strength and individualism. I surely still have a long way to go, but this is a little on how it helps me.
