Dr. Seuss was heavy. Really. This is what these stories were actually about.

In the beginning he was actually a political cartoonist. He truly is a conscious writer, not just a kid’s author.

^ He made a lot of political cartoons for the NY Times, including this (he supported the internment of Japanese Americans), and the book Horton Hears a Who is an allegory to the post-war occupation of Japan in WWII. The things you learn on the internet!

I knew about the nuclear war one and the environment one. I understand all of them.
